365 days ago, about a few hours from now, 10 maniacs entered the country and created havoc in India’s financial capital – namely Mumbai. The whole country watched as they laid siege on one of the greatest landmarks of the city and killed hundreds. The entire year people have been talking about the ‘Indian Pride’ of how the people of India get together in such times. But has this changed anything?? As in, does 26/11 even have any importance to us, and the people running the country anymore? Or is party politics still greater than the country?
The most important headlines in the papers these days is not even about last year. Shilpa Shetty’s wedding and our PM in Washington seem to be the most important news.
Yes – our PM in Washington. When the nation remembers last year – Mr. PM is trying to convince the US to help us fight terror. But does he himself have the will to defend the nation? As in – from what i see – the Babri masjid issue has become more important on Congress agenda as of now – to play again on the Hindu-Muslim divide to start the vote bank again.
When the first anniversary of 9/11 happened, i still remember the American President of that time, visiting the site. Giving a remembrance speech and join the nation as a single force to defend itself from future shit. But, our PM thinks it was more important to be in the US during this time, while our President is trying to fly Sukhois.
I guess, we are the enemies of our own country. And we end up only making a mockery of our system in the world. A year down, our police is still equipped with the same rifles that dont shoot – no bullet proof vests – no special trainings – nothing. If we havent had another attack since last year, its not because our country is better protected, but probably the attackers have just been sitting too lazy.
Mr. Kasab is still making a complete mockery of our system. Everybody wants him hanged. There is irrefutable evidence against him – but no – the system will still grind as slowly as ever. Even if he is given a death sentence – it will automatically be appealed at the high court – from where it will go to the supreme court – and then finally to the president – where – already 48 people have been waiting for a decade or so for there hearing – so i guess – Kasab would finally be hanged when he is on his death bead anyways – and yeah – i just read, that it costs the govt. Rs. 85 lac per day just to keep him alive. 85lac per day. In a country where people sometimes dont even make enough for two square meals.
The ‘Times of India’ says today  ‘A year after, India Remembers Mumbai Attacks’. But in what way? Do we remember it as a tragedy that happened? Or do we remember it as a kick in the ass to wake us up? Unfortunately, we remember it as a tragedy. Because people learn to move on after tragedies. But do nothing about them. Just like an earthquake – kills thousands – but then, you move on – you know nothing can be done. And this is what is unfortunate. 26/11 should have been a kick in the ass for India. A wake up call – to show us where and how we are vulnerable. But of course – the SYSTEM. The system eats everything up.
Yeah – the only thing it probably spits out is that Akshay kumar songs were not played on Shilpas wedding. Yes. That was important news.

The entire article has left me speechless as it is so well written.

I completely agree with yr views and ideas expressed in the article, infact so dissapointd i was with the act of the PM being in US which reflects on my face book wall!!!!!!…..

The police force on the 26/11 carried out a peace march at the marine drive , which no came to see ( people around were busy with there morning walks), ya the media channels had lot of work to do, asking people around …apko kaisa lag raha hai??????after one year of the terror attacks!!!!!

Here everything is done for money , in the end its the money wich counts more than the life of an individual!!!!!Probly thats the kind of society we thrive in!!!

I was physically present while this happened at VT station. Their aim was to finish VT, enter the TOI buildg, murder ppl there and then go to CAMA hospital. Thankfully the staff at the TOI bldg are vry strict and hence there wasnt much damage except for a few bullets in the doors and walls. Yes but we did lose a few journalists and reporters that night… and a food editor at the Taj.
